Kids have an impressionable mind and what we do or say leaves a long lasting impression on their mental faculties. This makes them highly susceptive to any information they receive and many researchers believe that a kid’s mind develops very well till the age of five and even after that they like a fresh sponge, who soak both good words and bad deeds easily. This information in the childhood forms a basis for their future. In order to influence them positively, we have put together some positively inspiring movies that will increase a sense of teamwork, love, courage, strength, compassion and the need for telling the truth.
Five top movies kids should watch
A lovely animated movie, Lion king throws light on how one should take the onus of their responsibility and not be distracted by the ills in the society. Sometimes what others are doing blinds us and we are unable to reach our goals or even recognize them. When Simba is lost in the jungle thinking he is the one who killed his father and he must pay, the truth comes out and reveals the true killer, his uncle, Scar. Therefore, Simba fights the battle of what is right and claims back his rightful throne. Story’s never give up spirit and how to enjoy life in a carefree manner, becomes a great lesson for the young ones to imbibe and practice in their lives.
Another hilarious animated movie, the small lessons taught in the movie are both touching and impressionable. The unflinching loyalty of Bob, Kevin and Stuart towards Scarlet, the innocence bob exhibits when there is a fight for the crown and the importance of good over evil, all comes together to form a great movie with deeper lessons of life. When kids watch such movies, they are moved by the significance of apology, love, sharing and significance of feelings over material gains.
One of the great movies that talks about spirituality, courage, compassion and team spirit, by featuring the animated characters like Po the Panda, Kung Fu Panda will instill deeper lessons in your child’s mind. The constant practice sessions of Po with his spiritual guru, his dedication and the support of his family and friends will create a sense of awareness in the child’s mind along with making him/her laugh on the funny incidents happening with Po on his spiritual journey.
Featured in 1984 and 2010, Karate Kid is an inspirational movie, as the young boys (in the movie) learn how to protect themselves and the importance of patience and concentration. Both the movies depict unwavering conviction on the young boys’ part to learn karate and earn a name on moral grounds. The spiritual guru, Mr. Mei yang teaches the child how to fight only when needed to protect oneself and not to hurt others, is yet another true lesson children in our generation need to learn. Not just for the kids, even adults can learn smaller lessons from this enthralling flick.
Life of Pi
A visual treat, Life of Pi is a movie about a young boy who is stranded alone with a tiger on a boat for days at a stretch and his journey of survival from there. With his planning, calculation and negotiation skills (with the tiger) he sails through a beautiful yet challenging voyage to save his life. The movie will be an insight into how even in the dimmest of situation there is always, a ray of hope and with dedication any battle can be won. Children are bound to take back realistic lessons and of course an enticing cinematic experience.
These and many other movies that come to your mind, which your child should watch and learn from, you must make them watch it. It is not important how much they would understand because of the language, but the subconscious mind is always working. If the movie feeds the soul that is enough of a message for the young mind.
