Siddheshwar temple in solapur | Shree siddheshwar temple

siddheshwar temple in solapur – this temple is dedicated to shree siddheshwar who was from lingayat religion. shri siddharameshwar was a mystic and an devotee of shri mallikarjuna of srisailam (one of the 12 jyotirlingam). on his guru request, siddharameshwar returned to solapur and consecrated 68 shiva lingams.

siddharameshwar took samadhi in this temple only. his samadhi is situated at the center of temple courtyard. the samadhi of saint is open and without any roof or walls unlike most samadhi temples which are closed shrines. there are also small temple dedicated to lord vithoba and goddess rukmani in the temple premises.

siddheshwar temple is situated right in the middle of solapur city. it is one of the popular tourist cum spiritual destination in solapur apart from tulja bhavani shakti peeth temple and swami samarth samadhi temple. there is a yatra and fair which happens around this temple every year in january month and is visited by large number of people. a dargah is also situated very close to the temple.

the temple is surrounded by a lake. very well managed temple, thanks to the siddharameshwar trust which is managing it. unlike most temples, its very neat and clean and also very peaceful. the priests are also very cooperative and will not push you for donation or pooja money. surely visit this temple as you will like the place and will also love the peaceful environment. i wish, if we can keep our temples neat and clean like this temple.

Remove “maharaj “suffix from siddharameswara or siddheswar.Photos show temple of Shiva yogi siddheswar & not siddheswar maharaj who is a different person altogether.

Thanks Mahant for pointing out the error. actually i had added maharaj word as a respect. but i didn’t realized that it will create conflict with Siddharameshwar maharaj who was guru of nisargadatta maharaj. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siddharameshwar

Although they say his samadhi is in Banganga, Walkeshwar in Mumbai. But i visited one matt near kolhapur their also they said his samadhi is their. may be his ashes were kept in two places.
