Occult powers and spirituality | Why you should not use occult powers or siddhis

Occult powers and spirituality | Why you should not use occult powers or siddhis

a spiritual seeker should never try to achieve any occult power or siddhis or any kind of spiritual power. when you start practicing any spiritual sadhana and as with time your practice starts maturing… then you might get some siddhi or occult power. these spiritual powers are like a test of your sincerity to realize the god.

if you are really seeking god or truth then you will avoid the tempation to use occult powers. when you don’t use the occult powers and ignore them… then this occult powers get absorbed in your energies and your practice becomes more deep. but many immature people get stuck at the occult powers and start using them to boast their ego or at times to genuinely help people.

founder of ancient science of yoga, patanjali has devoted an entire chapter in his yoga sutras on these occult powers, so that spiritual seeker does not get trap in these occult powers and siddhis which come on the way while you practice meditation. just let go of these occult powers and keep on moving on the path. If you don’t use these occult powers then they disappear on their own. but on the contrary if you start using these occult powers then slowly you will lose them and you will also lose track from your spiritual practice and you will have to start all over again.

there is no need to boast about these spiritual powers with other people. you should always try to transform yourself rather than indulge in these powers.

always remember that mind is always desiring and seeking one thing or the another. in the materialistic world, mind seeks power, fame, money etc. in spiritual world also the mind seeks something and that is being a guru or getting occult powers. seeking and desiring is the very natural of the mind. so when you start using these occult powers then you are simply dragged down by the mind.

a real spiritual person stops identifying with the desires of the mind and starts responding from his consciousness and awareness. as long as you are slave to mind desires then you are going to be mislead and fooled by it. many people who are practicing meditation or spiritual sadhanas start running after occult powers, siddhis or fame. this is because they have not learnt dis-identifying with the mind. somewhere their actions are still governed by mind desires. these craving for occult powers or siddhis distracts a seeker from attaining his real self. so be careful. there are many hurdles in the spiritual path and desire for occult powers is one such obstacle.
