Dashabhuja Laxmi Ganesh temple in hedvi | Dashabhuja Ganpati temple

dashabhuja laxmi ganapati temple is a rare and old ganesha temple in hedvi, guhagar. guhagar is a city in ratnagiri district in the konkan region of maharashtra. konkan area is famous for its greenery and clean beaches.

the ganesha statue is carved in white stone and has ten hands. thats why it is called as dash (ten) bhuja (arms) ganpati. the ganesha statue is 3 feet high and is on a seat of 2 feet.

its a jagrat place means lord ganesha is already invoked there. if you pray to lord ganesha sincerely in this temple then your wish will get fulfilled. the surrounding of the temple is very peaceful and serene. the moment you reach the temple, you will feel a subtle peace pervading in the place. tall trees in the temple entrance makes you slow down and bring in the moment. you need time to absorb the subtle silence and calmness of this beautiful temple.

boat ride to dashabhuja laxmi ganesh temple

we visited this temple after visiting ganpatipule temple. from ganpatipule we moved towards jaigad (approx 15-16 km). from jaigad creek we took a ferry boat to reach tavsal. the ferry boat charges 50 rs per person. for car they charge 250 rs (excluding the per passenger fee of 50 rs). so along with many passengers, two-wheelers, 4-5 cars and a bus, the boat took us to the other side of sea.

it just takes approx 10-15 minutes to complete the boat ride. but you will love this time as view from the boat is very beautiful. you will see sea shore lined up with coconut trees. from tavsal it takes another 10-15 minutes by car to reach the dashabhuja laxmi ganesh temple. after visiting this temple, you can also consider visiting velneshwar shiva temple which is another 20-30 minutes drive away and is a old shiva temple.

dashabhuja laxmi ganesh temple timing

the temple is closed between 12 to 1:30 pm in afternoon and also after 7 pm in evening. we visited the temple around 12:30 pm. so could not go inside the temple. we prayed to lord ganesha from outside. we felt that the whole temple premises is charged with ganpati energy. you can find the photo of dashabhuja ganesh statue in google images. i cannot use the photo from google images without the permission of the owner or photographer. if any of you visit this serene temple then please do share the ganesha photo with us.

group of people who came after us are also praying from outside the temple. actually it does not matter. what is important is to remember lord ganesha from the depths of your heart and with sincerity. he listens all prayers done sincerely.

we sat near these steps in the temple courtyard. this is one of those temple where you should sit for some time and remember lord ganesha. don’t make it a touch and go affair. the temple is small, not much known outside konkan area but is like a hidden gem. there are many large trees near the temple making a shaded canopy and giving relief from the heat.

Dashbhuja-Laxmi Ganesh temple is a really awesome place. I visited exactly one year before while journey of Ganpati Pule. Best time to visit is from August to November. Between this time all Konkan is covered with green grass and it looks very beautiful.
